Patents
We place great emphasis on the development and protection of our intellectual property. Our patenting strategy is focused on obtaining broad protection for our technologies, extension of patent life and territorial coverage. As part of this strategy, we have claimed composition of matter and method of treatment or therapeutic use of new stem cell lines as they are selected for, and progress to, clinical development and/or show functional features for non-therapeutic applications.
Applications are focused on the United States, Europe, Japan, Australia and Canada, as well as some smaller biotechnology-focused territories. In aggregate, we have written or exclusively licensed over 80 issued patents, of which over 50 have issued in the key European and US territories.
